£19.9m awarded to 64 organisations in our summer funding round
The Wolfson Foundation is pleased to announce that £19.9 million in funding has been awarded to support high-quality organisations and infrastructure projects throughout the country in our latest funding round.
The Foundation funds broadly in the field of research and education, and projects supported in this round range from the creation of the UK’s first permanent museum on migration, to investment in scientific facilities addressing some of the most pressing challenges of climate change.
Other grants will improve palliative care provision, strengthen support for people experiencing mental health challenges, and help ensure heritage and cultural assets remain relevant and accessible for future generations.
Funding awarded by programme
Promoting enquiry, curiosity and learning across all stages of life, the majority of our grants cover capital build, renovation or equipment in three areas: science and medicine; health and disability; heritage, humanities and the arts.
We have also dedicated £4,672,000 to our long-standing partnership programmes. This includes the renewal of our 19-year partnership with the National Trust, to whom we have awarded £1.5 million to enable the preservation of historic buildings. Continuing our support to The British Academy, we have awarded £890,000 to fund Wolfson Fellowships for early career researchers who show exceptional talent in the humanities and social sciences.

Nearly sixty years of supporting end of life care
The Foundation has supported the hospice movement since the earliest days, awarding its inaugural grant in 1969, two years after the opening of the first modern hospice in this country.
Reimagining heritage assets for the 21st century
£200,000 awarded to transform Poor Priests’ Hospital into heritage and learning destination in Kent and £100,000 awarded to National Trust Scotland’s Fyvie Castle redevelopment.
Bolstering skills and relationships in isolated communities
£80,000 awarded to Centred (Scotland) to create a thriving workshop and £50,000 to create a new furniture shop and restoration hub for older people in Gloucestershire.
