Statement on equity, diversity and inclusion
The Wolfson Foundation’s central aim is to contribute to the health, resilience and variety of society through support for research and education, defined in its broadest sense. We believe that the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion are essential to achieving this, and we seek to embed these principles in all that we do – as a grant maker, employer and investor.
We have a clear ambition to be a listening, responsive and inclusive organisation, and seek to reach all communities and areas of the UK.
Our work is overseen by our board of trustees, supported by expert committees and a small team of dedicated staff. We also work with a wide network of independent advisors who contribute direct knowledge and experience in the areas we work. All are committed to these principles, and bring a breadth of perspectives to inform everything that we do as an organisation.
The Wolfson Foundation uses the EDI definitions used in the Association of Charitable Foundation’s report, ‘The Pillars of Stronger Foundation Practice’ – which, in themselves, are definitions based on the work of the D5 Coalition in the US, dated 2018, see here.
