Safeguarding policy

Although the Foundation does not work directly with children or vulnerable adults it does provide funding to other organisations that work with these populations.

The Foundation seeks to ensure, through proportionate and reasonable due diligence, that grantee organisations take their responsibility seriously and that safeguards are in place in these charities to protect vulnerable people from abuse.

In particular the Foundation, in its review of applications, makes appropriate enquiries as follows:

  • To establish whether any matters have come to the attention of the applicant’s regulatory body where applicable (Care Quality Commission, Ofsted, as examples)
  • In areas of funding where it is considered particularly relevant, to ask the applicant for their safeguarding policy and details of the person in the organisation responsible for safeguarding for the project
  • Formally to ask the applicant whether there have been any safeguarding incidents within the past year.
