We want to let you know that in line with Government guidelines, our staff will be working remotely for the foreseeable future. Non-essential meetings and events will be cancelled for the next few weeks, and where necessary, we will hold virtual meetings.
We realise that Covid-19 is placing huge strain on communities right across the UK, and that many of the charities and other organisations supported by Wolfson are dealing with unprecedented challenges as a result. We want to reassure applicants, grantees and other stakeholders that we will do our best to respond sympathetically and flexibly.
Our grant processes and procedures
We are continuing to administer our grant processes and procedures as normal. If you have a current grant and are concerned that your project may need to change, or cannot go ahead as planned, do please contact us to outline your needs. We realise it may be difficult for some organisations to compile progress reports at this time, and are happy for reporting to us to be postponed while more urgent priorities are addressed.
Grant payments can be claimed in the normal manner. Please be assured that the Foundation manages its investments and reserves carefully for the long term, and is able to honour all grant commitments.
Applications under consideration
If you have an application under consideration by the Foundation at the moment, this will be reviewed as normal by our advisory panels in May and our Trustees in June. You do not need to do anything at this stage, but you are welcome to contact us if you feel that your project cannot go ahead as envisaged or if you have any other concerns.
Applications for future funding rounds
The Wolfson Foundation is committed to working with the organisations that we serve, and ensuring our funding is as helpful as is possible in the current challenging circumstances.
With this in mind, we are currently reviewing how our funding will be structured for the rest of 2020 – with the aim of being as flexible and as supportive as possible. We look forward to sharing more information on this in the coming weeks. In the meantime (and in order not to waste any applicant’s time) we are pausing our open grant programmes and will not be accepting new applications.
The exception to this is our funding for universities and schools where, from our conversations with those working in these sectors, it is clear that there is an ongoing need for capital projects. Our online application forms remain open for these organisations.
Please note that applications under consideration for a decision in June are not affected by this change.
Funders’ Statement on Covid-19
We have signed the Funders’ Statement on Covid-19 which is a commitment to be as helpful and flexible as possible in our dealings with grantholders. We expect to remain in dialogue both with other funders and grantees in the coming months as we refine and update our response to Covid-19. Any updates will be posted on our website and our twitter feed.
Contacting the Foundation
Where possible, please email rather than call us. If you are applying for a grant, or are a grant holder, do contact one of the Grants Team. If you have a general enquiry or are unsure which of the team to contact, please email firstname.lastname@example.org so that we can put you in touch with the right person. Where at all possible could you scan and email documents rather than posting during the period when we are a virtual office as we cannot guarantee a prompt response.
Lastly, and most important, everyone connected to Wolfson sends warm good wishes at this time of difficulty.
