Palliative Care & Hospices: previous case study
In December 2008, the Trustees awarded £125,000 to St Christopher's Hospice to redevelop their ground floor area, as part of the hospice's 40th Anniversary Project. The aim of the project was to modernise their building, extend services such as physiotherapy, improve access and offer more choice and flexibility to patients.
St Christopher's Hospice is based in south-east London and was founded by Dame Cicely Saunders. It has been a pioneer in the field of palliative medicine and currently cares for over 2,000 individuals every year. The Foundation's first grant to a hospice was made to St Christopher's in 1969.
