The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, recently ranked as one of the top five conservatoires for music (2013 Guardian University League table), has been supported by the Wolfson Foundation both through capital funding and scholarships.

The College is one of eight conservatoires selected to receive funding through the Wolfson Music Awards. This programme, which has been running since the late 1980s, supports promising young musicians by providing scholarships and helps undergraduates to buy top quality instruments.

The College recently opened suite performance and training facilities. At their heart is a 450 seat, purpose-built, chamber recital hall with outstanding acoustics, which was supported by the Wolfson Foundation.

The funding awarded to the College (totalling over £400,000) reflects the Foundations' aim of recognising excellence in the performing arts by supporting capital works combined with encouragement for talented young individuals.
