In 2010 Trustees awarded £250,000 to help create a new art gallery to house the collection of Dame Barbara Hepworth and other 20th Century British artists. The Hepworth Wakefield, West Yorkshire opened in May 2011 and is one of the largest purpose built art galleries outside of London. Bringing together the works of some of the most important artists of the period, such as David Hockney, Bridget Riley and Henry Moore, the gallery also has a changing programme of temporary exhibitions featuring leading contemporary artists.

Celebrating what is arguably the birthplace of modern British sculpture, this is an example of Wolfson funding helping to promote the country's cultural heritage.
